The Chosen Few
Born and raised in Uptown New Orleans during the 1950s in the neighborhood of the infamous Dew Drop Inn, Anthony "Tuba Fats" Lacen began studying music at McDonough 36 elementary School under the direction of Alvin Thomas and, later by Walter Payton.
Tuba Fats is New Orleans' most famous Tuba player and has been playing traditional New Orleans jazz and blues for over 40 years; he has played with virtually all the New Orleans brass bands, Gibson, Doc Paulin, Olympia, Tuxedo and was one of the founding members of the Dirty Dozen.
Tuba Fats has traveled extensively with his music and performed on numerous occasions in Europe, the Far East, Australia, South America and Russia.
By day, Tuba Fats and his band, The Chosen Few perform most every day at the largest free music venue the French Quarter has to offer.Jackson Square. At night he spends his time performing in neighborhood clubs such as Donna's Bar & Grill and at private events.
